Banfield Pet Hospital
History: Banfield was founded in 1955 with a commitment to making human quality medicine accessible to Pet owners. In our hometown of Portland, Oregon, Banfield became known for its legendary client service and life saving veterinary medicine. By the early 1990’s, three generations of Pet owners had come to know and trust the Banfield team, making Banfield one of the leading private veterinary practices in the nation. Today, Banfield is driven by the same goal that has always inspired us: making life better for families. We do this by giving Pets the same care we want for ourselves, making Pet health affordable, strengthening the value of Pets in families, teaching how better Pet care maximizes lives, and stopping euthanasia by keeping Pets healthy. Put simply, treating your Pet like family. Employment: Banfield is a team environment where people help each other do their best, because they're doing what they love. From the subtleties of diagnosis to the considerations of everyday care, at Banfield, the advantages of collaboration will enrich everything you do. Every practicing Banfield veterinarian is supported by a comprehensive team including as many as four nurses, allowing more time to focus on each patient and give complex cases the attention they deserve. The medical support positions in most full-service Banfield hospitals
include the Hospital Director, Veterinary Nurse (RVT, LVT, CVT), Veterinary
Nurse Assistant and Client Service Coordinator (CSC). Additionally, some
hospital teams include a Pet Counselor, who meets and discusses Pet care
with potential clients in the PETsMART adjacent to that hospital. All
Banfield hospitals receive complete administrative support from our Central
Team in Portland, Oregon, enabling our doctors to focus more on Pet care,
and less on the administrative aspects of running a hospital. Equipment: Banfield hospitals are designed with one goal in mind: to help our medical teams care for patients as effectively as possible. Computers in every examination room for easy access to medical records, multimedia client education materials, spacious treatment areas, comfortable wards and a complete in-house lab and pharmacy all help you provide superior veterinary care while keeping clients and Pets as comfortable as possible. Veterinarians at Banfield have access to a wider range of better equipment and supplies than many smaller practices can afford. Important tools such as tonopens and surgical suites that accommodate 99% of procedures Pets will need enable deeper diagnostic inquiries and a wider range of treatment options. We furnish our hospitals with state-of-the art equipment including, a Sevoflurane vaporizer, X-ray machine & auto processor, IV fluid pumps, Electronic tonometer, Pulse oximeter and in many locations, ultrasound and endoscopy equipment. Summer Employment: Summer job students are team members in our hospitals. Applicants must be first- through third-year veterinary students and can choose from multiple hospital locations nationwide.
